What is the Henri Nouwen Society?
The Henri Nouwen Society exists to carry forward the spiritual vision of Henri Nouwen — namely, to help people come to see themselves as “God’s Beloved,” and to be transformed through that recognition.
At its core, the Society seeks to introduce Nouwen’s writings and spiritual theology to new generations and spiritually hungry seekers through creative programs, partnerships, publications, and other initiatives.
It also preserves, promotes, and facilitates engagement with Nouwen’s legacy — from daily meditations, podcasts, and newsletters to lectures, symposia, spiritual direction, and educational resources — so that his ideas about solitude, community, compassion, spirituality, and social justice remain alive and accessible.
Finally, the Society aims to build community and belonging: encouraging individuals to grow spiritually, connect with others, and translate Nouwen’s message into compassionate, faith-rooted action in the world.
