Book Club: The Inner Voice of Love

Join us this April for Reading Henri: Reflect, Connect, Grow, a three-week online book club centered on Henri Nouwen’s deeply personal and powerful spiritual classic, The Inner Voice of Love.

We will gather on April 13, 20, and 27 at 7:00 PM Eastern on Zoom for thoughtful conversation, shared reflection, and meaningful connection.

Unlike many of Nouwen’s more structured works, The Inner Voice of Love is composed of spiritual imperatives—short, intimate meditations written during a time of profound personal struggle. Because of this unique format, our book club will not move chapter by chapter. Instead, each week we will explore a central theme, drawing selected readings from throughout the book to help us engage its wisdom in a focused and transformative way.

Weekly Themes:

  • April 13 – Relationships
We’ll reflect on love, belonging, boundaries, loneliness, and the challenge of remaining grounded in our identity while in relationship with others.

  • April 20 – Emotions & Healing
Together we’ll explore Nouwen’s honest engagement with grief, rejection, fear, and hope—and consider how emotional awareness opens the path toward healing.

  • April 27 – Vocation & Deepening Our Spiritual Lives
Our final gathering will focus on calling, spiritual maturity, and the invitation to trust the inner voice of love that draws us closer to God and to our truest selves.

Because the book is brief yet spiritually rich, participants are strongly encouraged to read the entire book prior to our first meeting. This will allow you to enter each themed discussion with familiarity and openness, ready to reflect on passages from across the text.

Whether you are new to Henri Nouwen or have long found companionship in his words, this book club offers a welcoming space to slow down, listen deeply, and grow—together.

Come ready to reflect.
Come ready to connect.
Come ready to grow.
