I wish there had been more interaction among members. I think that the role of the moderator is to encourage cross fertilization of thoughts and ideas of various members. I’d like to see the participation of the moderator in the discussion. That he or she not only frames the quest but engages in it too.

Only just found this online reading group - and I’m so glad there is a new discussion starting soon. I’m in! (Wishing I’d found it while you were doing The Prodigal Son!) Last year I discovered Nouwen’s books while doing a CPE (chaplaincy) course and have since been adding to my collection and enjoying his insights immensely. So much of his emotional journey mirrors my own.
Recently I decided to blog some of my thoughts about his writings (www.nouwen.blogspot.com) and I have linked it to this site. Hope that’s ok!
Looking forward to joining the discussion…

One more thing. . . 5 weeks for this books is far for reasonable than the last, as it made it very difficult for a slow reader who retains everything she reads!
And my slow reading gave me the ability to graduate from Seattle U, with honours and an extra minor in post Vatican II theology and Philosphy - neither of which I could get enough of.
But please understand in this rural Saskatchewan town, with a ramp and having no relatives in town, I have no friends other than my beloved husband, no Church outreach, but many other Friends with Ataxia realted conditions.
I am wheel chair bnoud with many disabilities due to a very rare condion in women called “FXTAS” meaning my brain cells all over my head are disintinitrating, thus my processiing spped is slower.
If I talk too much, tell me.

All I can say is: Praise Jesus! As he is the source of that beautiful book which I have read three times, and I really have been waiting for this one.
Please encourage interaction among members? Mirium, Welcome!
God Bless you!

Hi Ed…….Miriam of ROPS participation back on board. I read ‘Life of the Beloved’ around November last year and would love to re-visit the wealth of wisdom that is the legacy of any book of Henri Nouwen.
Blog-participation in Reaching Out was an interesting soul-searching experience. Thanks Albert.
