  1. Susan Vining:

Reading Nouwen’s Reaching Out and participating in this reading group has been a bittersweet experience, one in which I am blessed to have been a participant. Henri Nouwen continues to be a powerful influence in my spiritual life. There are times that tempt one to desolation on this journey. It continually humbles me to realize that it is by God’s grace that I persevere, but that I have been given such blessings as well. The past five weeks filled me with more light from all at a time when it was sorely needed as well as offering guidance and a welcoming space to reach in and out to Love itself. I pray my heart is more open to God and to others; that I will run less from hurt. You have all helped me on my way.God bless and thank you.

  2. Miriam:

No matter how much of a kindred spirit I might find in someone else……be it friend, spouse, kid, sibling….. intimacy with that person can turn into a clinging dependency. Fulfilling intimacy is possible only with an ever embracing and sweet God. The more I learn to really apply that fact to my life, the more peace and joy I can generate within myself.
