I was so pleased to see a few posts already today! Welcome to the online reading group. We’ll start slowly as people check into the site. The good news is you can jump into this site whenever you want. I encourage you to participate, but you can just follow the chat if you want to. It is possible to create an online community through this kind of reading group, and we’ll see what happens. For now, just get started on reading The Return of the Prodigal Son, and please consider finding the “Getting Started” link below and tell us a little about yourself. Thanks! Check in frequently to see what others are saying, and add your own comments any time. — from Ed Wojcicki, your moderator

I am from Raleigh North Carolina. I am teaching my vacation bible school adult class about “compassion”. What struck me about the Return of the Prodigal son was that we are all called to be the Father - be compassionate as your Father in Heaven is compassionate. The picture of the Father’s hands on the shoulders of the son - the forgiveness before being asked to forgive - the love that was evident as he ran to rejoin his son - this is what we are called to - this is the life of compassion. The entire book was so moving and insightful and I thank the Lord for Henri.
    Shalom,
    Cari

  2. Roswitha:

Hello, my name is Roswitha, I live in London, am married with 2 grown-up children. I worship in a beautiful little church (Roman Catholic) in Twickenham (near the famous Rugby Ground!!!). This Lent I organised a Faith Sharing Group in my parish where we shared and were inspired by Henri Nouwen’s book ‘The Prodigal Son’. It was for us an awesome journey, an eyeopener really, to learn so much about God’s relationship with each one of us and our own struggles, often obscure, our stubborn hearts and realising our own darknesses and resistances but then too the final acknowledment of our sinfulness, but also strengths to finally surrender and realise who we are and who we are meant to become with God’s loving grace and help. Love and prayers to you all.
