FINAL week: — and an evaluation here

Filed under: Life of the Beloved — May 8, 2006 @ 3:01 pm

This is the final week on the online reading group. Themes from the end of the book are under the “Pages” column in the brown section to the right. I have posed two questions below this post for discussion. Also, could you please comment on your experience in this reading group directly below this post by clicking on the Comments link? Was this group beneficial to you? How?

Thanks to everyone who shared and became vulnerable in the reading group. This is just what Henri talks about.
I am touched to know each one of you; you are The Beloved!
I pray that all I learned from you will become fabric of my inner self.
The book certainly was wonderful and insightful; as were the questions. The part I liked best was the comments!
Ihave grown through this experience. Thank you, ED.

    Hi Ed and all,

I know I am late to sign on, for the last week, but I want to that ank all who took part in this this group.

The questions, Ed, were excellent and well thought out, and many responded to them and each other. thus, to me, we seem to melding more and more as a group each time. And I notice more and more are opening up. That in itself has got be making Henri Nouwen proud. I am sure that he at least gets glimpes of what is going on here on earth.

  3. Miriam:

The questions provided food for thought. Ed, thanks for the good questions as always……….

  4. Carole:

Jill and the others, I am glad that you found it beneficial. I agree with all that it’s good to share, and this online forum is one more small way to share and build community. I myself have benefited from your sharing and include it in my reflection and journaling.

  6. Jill:

Ed and all, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts in this forum. I think there is so much to be gained in the sharing. I have not done this before but look forward to the next book!

  7. Moderator:

Joseph, it is good to have you join us. And Susan, I totally agree that Henri would consider this a safe and hospitable forum. Hospitality was a behavior/virtue that he wrote about so often, and so I am pleased that you consider this a hospitable space.

  8. Mae Noll:

I agree with Susan that it is beneficial to have this safe and welcoming space for searching for God and renewing our spirit through thought and discourse.

  9. Joseph Kuzhiparambil:

I read “Life of the Beloved” so many times that when I see a quote from Henri Nouwen I can place it from where the quote is. I am a new comer to this page and I hope I will learn more as I go along. fraternally, joyprakash

  10. Susan Vining:

Reading Life of the Beloved again and being part of this group has been very rewarding for me. It provided an opportunity for spiritual growth through the actual reading, considering/answering the questions and most of all, reading and responding to the sharings of others in the group. As a Nouwen devotee, I can’t help but think that Henri Nouwen would consider these groups as truly hospitable, a safe and welcoming space for those searching for God. I am more whole for the experience. Please continue these groups whenever possible.Thank you to all.
