A Retreat with Henri Nouwen, edited by Robert Durback. Released October 2003, by St. Anthony Messenger Press, November 2003 by Darton, Longman & Todd. In this seven-day retreat, Durback brings together selections of Nouwen's writings based around the theme of 'reclaiming our humanity in a technological age'. This inspiring selection provides an ideal basis for group study and for individual readers seeking an entry to Nouwen's spirituality.
The Heart of Henri Nouwen: His Words of Blessing, edited by Rebecca Laird and Michael Christensen, The Crossroad Publishing Co., released July 2003. This book is structured around the four themes of Life of the Beloved, one of Nouwen's most intimate books - taken, blessed, broken, and given. Each chapter begins with a prayer and a photo presenting the theme. This is followed by a story or anecdote about Henri and core excerpts from his books. The book closes with a word from the publisher who knew Henri as a family friend and later as a professional.
Eternal Seasons: A Liturgical Journey with Henri Nouwen edited by Michael Ford. Release date: October 2003 Darton Longman and Todd, February 2004 Ave Maria Press. Henri Nouwen loved the liturgical year of the church. Yet despite numerous references to cycles, feast days and holy periods, he never wrote a liturgical book as such. In Eternal Seasons Michael Ford brings together selections from Nouwen's existing writings to provide a spiritual companion to the seasons of the church. The changing patterns of the yearly cycle give birth to a spirituality of hope and healing, which reconnects us with the cadences of the authentic spiritual life.
Michael Ford is a writer and broadcaster. He is the author of Wounded Prophet: A Portrait of Henri J. M. Nouwen (DLT 1999).
