Educational Forum on the Life of Henri Nouwen in Douglaston, NY
Robert Ellsberg was keynote speaker for enthusiastic gathering

The Tablet newspaper of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn New York hosted its third education forum on November 5th, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston, NY. This year they explored the life of Henri Nouwen with over 300 participants. The evening began with a film by Karen Pascal, "Journey of the Heart: the life of Henri Nouwen" followed by a talk by Robert Ellsberg, editor in chief of Orbis Books. Robert, a native of Los Angeles, became a Catholic in 1980 while a member of the Catholic Worker house in downtown Manhattan. Robert was a friend of Henri's for 20 years and was deeply influenced by Henri's writing and their friendship. Robert is the author of All Saints and The Saints' Guide to Happiness. Orbis has published many of Henri's books such as Adam, With Burning Hearts and The Selfless Way of Christ.
